Not all have been developed, so there are still those quiet deserted beaches which can be very attractive. There is also snorkelling to be done, with many beaches having live-coral formations. There is still bit of the old Pha Ngan vibe in some of the bungalow resorts and you can get far away from the maddening crowd in Had Rin, whilst still being able to pop in for a midnight visit to 7-Eleven. The beach is not very wide if the tide is in, and the southern section is not great for sunbathing as it?s home to Had Rin Pier and debris clutters the beach in places. The south-east of Koh Phangan is dominated by the mountains that occupy virtually the whole region. This is where the local fishermen keep their longtail boats, and the image of all the wonderfully colourful handcrafted boats with their 100 BHP truck engines on the back is a great view to take in while eating in the local restaurants there.

PAC is a non-profit organisation, developed to provide essential care for the many ill and suffering stray animals of Koh PhaNgan. You can now sponsor treatment for a stray animal and receive a picture and update of the treatment that your donation has provided. PhaNgan Animal Care (PAC) is the sole provider of veterinary care for the animals of Koh PhaNgan - a small island located in the Gulf of Thailand. PAC also hopes to eradicate (or at least minimise) the rabies virus from Ko Pangan island. PAC Ko Pangan has been gratefully embraced by the local residents of the island, as there has never been any option to obtain treatment unless the animal was brought to the adjacent island.

Never approach the elephants without the mahout's supervision, because afterall, while friendly, elephants are still wild animals.
